Cold War video Questions:
a. think the Zooks and Yooks did not get along?
I think they didn't get along because they had contradicting beliefs, and both believed that they were right and the other was wrong. The Yooks used weapons to fight off the Zooks, until they one day acted upon them by destroying their ways of fighting. b. What do you think caused this conflict to get worse?
When the Zooks destroyed the Yooks' weapons and the Yooks came up with more dangerous ones, intended to get revenge. From there, both sides fought back with equal force, which was causing the conflict to worsen because each of the sides wanted the victory for themselves and kept continuing to engage in the conflict with more intense measures. c. think this happens with your friends or siblings?
One always thinks they are right and the other is always wrong in a situation, and when one starts and instigates even more; the other will do the same. This causes more conflict and more ways to aggravate the other to get back at them. Also when one wins continuously, the other is too stubborn to give up and let that person # for another time. d. What do you think the Zooks and Yooks could have done differently to prevent this conflict?
The Zooks and Yooks could have agreed on their differences with their beliefs from the beginning, and carried on without conflict or problems with the other's beliefs. It would have prevented all the further conflict that came with their disagreements with one another. e. In the story, each side uses propaganda to make their side seem like the right side. Give some examples from themovie/book.
Yooks: "our hearts are true, our cause is just"
"squeeze it even tighter" (torment even more) - nuclear weapon to put on the Zooks f. What does the story tell you about the Cold War?
It was an ongoing battle to have revenge on the other side, and to prove that each side always thinks they were the right ones. But when one side fought, the other fought back with equal force, causing the force to become greater and greater each time. g. What would be your ending to the story?
Both sides would eventually agree to disagree with the differences of the other, and carry on without conflict and the use of violence(without dropping their nuclear weapons), because at the end of the day fighting with one another isn't going to change the beliefs of your opponent. If anything, adding to the problem will make them even more eager and determined to prove their point and express their beliefs, so agreeing to disagree would be the best policy.
Winston Churchill and Nakita Khrushchev were both statesman, where Churchill was taking this role during WWll and Nakita was for the Soviet, who denounced Josef Stalin and became the first secretary of the Soviet Union, which Mikhail Gorbachev also served as a general secretary of.
Ronald Reagan(1981-1989),John F. Kennedy(1961-1963), and Harry Truman(1945-1953) all served as presidents of the United States.
#omino Theory had been thought to believe that if one country was to be take over by communism (which is related to the United Nations General Assembly due to its proposal of equal representation), then the neighboring countries would follow that action; of which countries were to be considered "West"- or the non communist countries of western Europe and the Americas.
The Warsaw Pact was an organization that comprised several other places with East Germany, of which was established by the Soviet Union.
NATO and Capitalism can be linked in such a way that they both create compromises among the people they affect.
The Containment Policy and the Marshall Plan were both being used by the United States, which was the intended target of the Cuban Missile Crisis
The Truman Doctrine and Detente were both created to ensure satisfaction to the people they accounted for, as well as the Berlin Airlift, and the Doctrine was focused solemnly on countries threatened by Communism.
Fidel Castro was a Cuban communist Revolutionary which is linked to Politburo- the executive committee policymaking body of a communist party.
The Vietnam War and the Korean War were both against the North and South regions of their nations, so it did not consist of the Iron curtain like the "east" did; since it was against their own country.
The Space Race and Arms Race were both competitions during the Cold War, but the space race was between nations, while the arms race was between countries.
How did the Korean War turn into a Cold War Conflict?
The Korean was also considered the young cold war conflict, that became a part of the war when Stalin sent supplies to the Korean area. This involvement coined the name.
Why did the Korean War not lead to world war?
The Korean War did not turn into a world war because it wasn't a war, but a dictatorship problem; and confined Korea only. The United States, their allies(supporters of S. Korea), Communist China, and Soviet Russia didn't want it to escalate out of the Korea peninsula; and the United States, Soviet Russia and Communist China were cautious about not allowing the Korean war spiral out of control.
Korean War shed light on the broad themes of the Cold War?
North and South Korea were supported by external powers and the conflict expanded, becoming a proxy war in the Cold War.
Do you believe the Korean War was a Civil War or a Proxy war (war that results when opposing powers use third powers as subtitles for fighting each other directly)?
Three pieces of evidence from movie to support your claim
I believe that the Korean War was a Proxy war because the US was allies with South Korea and the Soviets were allies with North Korea, so they didn't fight one another directly. They never fought face to face, and proxy means "in place of"- (South Korea in place of US & North Korea in the place of the Soviets)...was a third party substitute. They all had nuclear weapons, and a face to face battle could lead to major problems.
I thought that the first most important point from the poll was that more than 50% of Americans felt that it was not worth fighting in Korea,in all four months that the poll was given. I find it interesting how more than half of Americans believed that the fighting was not worth it, but it was still something that would occur and cause the death of their soldiers; and the loss of their country's as they continued.
The second most important thing I observed through the poll provides a support to the fact that more than half of the Americans didn't agree with the fighting occurring in Korea, and didn't . It had been said that 69% of Americans agreed to sign an agreement to end the fighting occurring in Korea, which is proof to the fact that more than half of their country didn't agree with what was happening.
I think the last most important part of the poll is the fact that it was almost equal in opinion as to whether taking strong steps would be great risk versus not much risk at all, because it is interesting to know that there is almost a balanced opinion on major steps impacting.

Paragraph on Five Options: I would choose Option #2 which was to open direct negotiations with Khrushchev asking that the missiles be withdrawn. I have made this choice based upon the fact that “most of” my “advisers believed that negotiations should take place”, which gives me support on the decision I make; and a higher percentage of supporters on the behalf of my decision I believe that negotiation should be the first step taken in this situation, because if we are able to solve this without violence; then we should do so. If this does not cause them to remove the missiles, then force can be warned upon them. When we warn force upon them, should they choose to not remove the missiles, we will act with the warned force. We will not do this to create war, but to defend ourselves in favor of the protection of our people and our country.
